The Role



The

Lead Event Services Crew Member

will provide hands-on leadership and support to our Event Installation Team before, during, and after each event to ensure each event meets client specifications and Global Convention Services standards.

The ideal candidate will have a safety-first mindset to ensure all provincial and federal safety requirements are communicated to the Event Installation Team on the job site and in our warehouses.

The candidate will be able to communicate effectively with clients, vendors, and team members, and have a proven track record of managing multiple projects simultaneously.

Our Event Crew Members are the backbone of our operations, specializing in the setup and dismantling of events, including the installation of pipe, drape, carpet, specialized booths, furniture, and signage. With a focus on detail, they handle internal and client freight and material movements, utilizing equipment like pallet jacks and forklifts. Collaborative by nature, our Event Crew Members work seamlessly with onsite teams and management throughout all stages of events, ensuring a positive and professional atmosphere.

A core aspect of the role involves high attention to detail to guarantee all installed equipment meets the client's specifications, leaving a clean, presentable, and fully functional setup.

Key Responsibilities



Liaise with General Manager and Operations Manager to develop and implement operational plans for each required event. Ensure conformance to client specifications and company requirements before, during, and after each event Provide direction and support to Event Services Crew during the event's setup and dismantling. Installation and dismantling of events including pipe, drape, carpet, specialized booths, furniture, and signage Internal and client freight and material handling Movement of freight and equipment to the event area by hand or using pallet jacks and forklifts Ensure all installed equipment is left clean, presentable, and in working order for clients Collaboration with other onsite installers and management before, during, and after events Ensure all installed equipment is left clean, presentable, and in working order for clients. When onsite, answer any exhibitor or client questions or direct them to someone within the organization who can help. Repair and maintenance of equipment Maintaining a positive and professional attitude Requirement to work flexible and overtime hours as required Other duties as assigned
Skills and Qualifications

A valid driver's license Previous experience driving medium-duty commercial vehicles (e.g., cube trucks or straight trucks). Forklift certification or willingness to become certified Ability to lift up to 50 lbs. Strong interpersonal and communication skills, including the ability to speak, read, write, and follow oral and written instructions in English Good customer service skills Good time management skills Basic mathematics knowledge Ability to work in a constantly changing and customer service-oriented environment Must have a flexible schedule and the ability to work long hours, evenings, and weekends, as dictated by the schedule of events
Candidates with the following skills/experience will be given preference and a higher hourly pay rate:

Forklift training and experience Carpentry skills and experience Electrical knowledge and experience Experience driving 3-tonne, 5-tonne, or larger trucks Experience installing vinyl adhesive graphics
