Lead Environmental Planner (temporary Contract)

Purpose

This position supports Liberty Power\'s business development construction projects with a focus on environmental permitting, compliance and regulatory planning activities. The role will report directly to the Sr Manager - Environmental Permitting, Construction.

Accountabilities

  • Environmental Permitting, Construction in advancing wind and solar development projects through the construction phase:
  • Obtain local, state/provincial and federal permits necessary for construction
  • Understanding of regulatory planning and approvals for wind and solar development projects (ie: site plans, environmental assessments, and species at risk).
  • Document construction activities evidencing compliance with reports, permits, conditions of approval, agreements, etc.
  • Communicate with local, provincial/state and federal agencies, as necessary
  • Support and manage environmental consultants
  • Develop and manage stakeholder management plans, with the support of the Project Team
  • Manage project websites (ie: edit content, publish project updates etc.)
  • Arrange logistics and planning details for stakeholder events
  • Knowledge of erosion and sediment control and storm water management regulations and implementation
  • Knowledge of species at risk, wetland and watercourse permitting and compliance
  • Able to interpret regulations and approvals; develop solutions to construction issues and provide recommendations to the Manager / Project Team
  • Scoping of environmental impacts and developing Requests for Proposal
  • Knowledge of the contracting process with consultants
  • Support the upstream development projects
  • Support the project financing activities (ie: responding to environmental due diligence questions)
  • Support and coordinate internal and 3rd party health and safety audits
Education and Experience
  • Must possess a college diploma or university degree in an applicable area of study (environmental science, regulatory and permitting practices).
  • Strong written and oral presentation skills are required.
  • Minimum three years post-secondary work experience in permitting and project coordination or project management role,
  • Candidates either holding, or in the process of obtaining, additional Project Management certification/ training such as the Project Management Professional (PMP) designation are preferred.
  • Strong working knowledge of Microsoft Office Programs
  • Valid driver\'s license
  • Able and flexible to travel within Canada and the United States as needed.
