Job SummaryLocation: Technical Services Trail, BCClosing Date: July 2, 2024Reporting to the Section Leader, Environmental Technology, the Lead Environmental Engineer is responsible for supporting environmental technology development projects, providing technical consulting services to sites, and developing an environmental technology project portfolio. The position will require various domestic and international travel, dependent on portfolio, project, and personal or personnel development needs.In this role you will have the opportunity to work advancing technologies in water treatment in the mining industry. Experience and knowledge of active water treatment and membrane processes will be vital. To be successful, we are looking for someone with excellent interpersonal and communication skills, who can build relationships across multi-disciplinary teams and can communicate key messages and recommendations to all company levels. The incumbent will join a highly technical team that works under a collaborative model to lead or support small teams of internal and external personnel as required to meet project objectives.This role requires a self-motivated individual, who enjoys managing multiple projects and priorities with minimal supervision.   • Be a courageous safety leader, adhere to and sponsor safety and environmental rules and procedures.
  • Establish and promote the Environmental, Health, and Safety (EHS) Management System and EHS policies at off-site locations.
  • Advise on environmental technology projects through the project lifecycle and optimize selected solutions.
  • Strategize, oversee, and implement sophisticated biogeochemical research necessary to advance the projects, using internal and external resources as needed.
  • Provide technical support as a SME to multiple sites and project teams; facilitate regulatory reporting and provide support to internal governance practices.
  • Engage with Teck\'s external networks to develop environmental solutions.
  • Support the ongoing development of an environmental technology project portfolio.
Qualifications
  • Advanced Degree in chemical, process, bioprocess engineering, environmental engineering or similar accreditation with proven experience.
  • 5-7 years of experience in bioprocessing and its practical applications in an industrial context.
  • Registered Professional Engineer with EGBC, or eligible to become registered.
  • Proficient in statistical experimental design and conducting experiments to evaluate and enhance biogeochemical and bioprocess models.
  • Efficiently managing projects and logistics involving internal and external stakeholders, such as modeling groups, process engineers, consultants, and universities
