This role will be based in Sherwood Park, Alberta. As a member of the Engineering team, the Lead Distribution Engineer plays a vital role in developing client-driven design approaches and solutions. You will lead and support the Utility distribution team in delivering projects to our growing clientele while adhering to industry standards, client requirements, codes, and regulations. Your responsibilities will include reviewing and monitoring engineering designs, developing engineering processes, and acting as a liaison between the engineering team, clients, and external stakeholders.

What you will be doing:

Lead the Utility Distribution Team in performing electrical design and calculations following relevant Canadian and Industrial (API, IEEE, NEC) Standards and project specifications.

Direct the preparation of detailed designs for electrical distribution systems using MicroStation and AutoCAD.

Lead the development and review of detailed site layouts, structural or electrical drawings, such as Schematics, Profiles, Single-line diagrams, and Circuit plans.

Prepare and review specifications, technical bid evaluations, procurement documentation, and construction cost estimates.

Utilize your expertise in electric utility systems and their operation to develop new designs and solve project challenges.

Perform engineering calculations and system modeling studies.

Prepare design packages for construction.

Conduct quality reviews of project deliverables.

Establish and maintain client relationships through networking and communication.

May require some travel to project sites.

Perform other assigned duties as needed.

What you must have:

A Bachelor\xe2\x80\x99s degree in Civil or Electrical Engineering or other relevant engineering backgrounds will be considered.

Must be a registered Professional Engineer with the appropriate regulatory body.

Four (4) or more years of experience in leading the design and operation of overhead and underground distribution lines.

Experience in the design, operation, construction, and maintenance of overhead and underground power distribution lines.

Familiarity with utility standards, CSA, and powerline construction techniques.

Ability to work effectively in design teams and demonstrate self-motivation in performing assigned tasks.

Experience with non-linear analysis of aerial pole lines is considered an asset (software: SPIDA, Quickpole, PLS-CADD).

Knowledge of underground utility experience is considered an asset.

Aerial distribution or transmission line design experience is considered an asset.

Proficiency in using the Microsoft Office software suite.
