American Iron & Metal is looking to add a Senior Dispatcher to join our growing logistics team. Every AIM employee takes great pride in their job and is willing to go the extra mile to ensure the success of the company.

As an AIM dispatcher, the candidate will be responsible for providing a high level of customer service to all accounts while scheduling company drivers to service customers.

The person is responsible for managing and controlling a part of dispatch activities for ground transportation activities for sites in the Province of New Brunswick, Newfoundland and Labrador, Nova Scotia, Prince Edward Island and Maine. The dispatcher is responsible for managing and answering customers and AIM sites request, incoming calls, communicating with the drivers to ensure that we apply high quality standards in terms of customer service. Dispatchers will monitor situations by phone or radio, use mapping software to locate the best routes, and keep track of the locations of drivers.

They will be responsible for to ensure the application of safety laws and regulations and transport compliance and compliance with government regulations and see to the application of the best practices of the transport industry.

In addition, the person will have to collaborate with various stakeholders in the daily management of operations and to ensure compliance, road safety, health and safety, quality of service, and will work in close collaboration with the transport manager to identify the opportunities that will improve the efficiency of the entire operation.

This is a fast-paced dynamic environment that requires the ability to problem solve and will provide the chance for learning every day.

We will provide the chosen candidate with the proper training on all company software and procedure to ensure their success.

Qualifications

Have a minimum of 5 years of experience in a similar position;

Able to juggle complex problems in order to find the best solutions;

Possess very good analytical skills;

Extensive knowledge of the geographic regions of Atlantic and Maine;

Good knowledge of the Microsoft Office suite and dispatch software.

Enjoy customer service and be a good communicator;

Knowledge of transport methods, costs and benefits

Sense of organization;

Interpersonal skills;

Proactive learning;

Professionalism in dealing with customers, other employees, suppliers and carriers.

Additional Information

Responsibilities:

In this role you will be responsible for:

Act as a logistics specialist to the organization.

Receive requests from internal and external customers for the management of inbound and outbound moves of recycled metals

Manage the efficiency of the movements assigned to the drivers and the optimal use of the drivers and equipment\xe2\x80\x99s under his responsibility

Maintain effective communications with all internal stakeholders: buyers, suppliers, customers, brokers and other colleagues to organize the collection and delivery of scrap metal in an efficient and timely manner.

Review the ground transportation network and find new ways to maximize the volume and weight of products transported while minimizing operating costs.

Responsibilities:

Ensure the proper use of systems and procedures in place and continuous training of best practices

Using Global Positioning Systems to monitor the location and efficiency of the drivers

Ensuring carrier compliance with company policies and procedures

Ensuring prompt receipt and delivery of metals to and from customers

Dealing with complex situation and being able to solve it quickly

Maintain driver performance data and report to management
