Position Overview

temporary, part time
Lead, Creative Kinds Museum. The
Lead, Creative Kids Museum (CKM)
is a dynamic and hands-on leadership role within the Interpretive Science Connections team at TELUS Spark. Reporting to the Manager, Interpretive Science Connections, this position is central to delivering exceptional guest experiences through creative, science-based programming for children aged 8 and under in the Creative Kids Museum, as well as for Spark's rotating visiting exhibitions.
As the main point of contact for the CKM and visiting exhibits during operating hours, you'll provide real-time support to staff, troubleshoot issues as they arise, and step into programming blocks when needed. You'll mentor and train front-line staff in science interpretation, contribute to the planning and development of new programs, and help bring events and activations to life both onsite and in the community. Your passion for STEAM and creative learning will shine through as you deliver engaging, hands-on interpretation that sparks curiosity and wonder in every guest.

Key Responsibilities
Support the Gallery Science team as the main point of contact in the Creative Kids Museum and visiting exhibitions during operating hours. Including assisting with any issues and changes that occur in these spaces, including covering programming blocks where needed.
Participate in the planning of the programming development calendar.
Support Gallery Science staff on a 1:1 basis with science interpretation skills, and program training.
Support the Manager, Interpretive Science Connections with the continued development of science interpretative programs at TELUS Spark.
Deliver ground-breaking STEAM interpretation in the Creative Kids Museum, visiting exhibits, and custom programming for events both at Spark and off-site.
Quantify the guest experience experiences through the collection of guest surveys, and guest interactions
Ensure all elements of the guest journey are held to the highest standard.
Keep up to date on Spark programming, initiatives, membership offerings, and promotions.
Work collaboratively with other Spark teams to meet objectives, creatively solve issues, and anticipate challenges.
Ensure personal and team activities are aligned with business and strategic goals of Spark.
Maintain a safe teaching and learning environment for staff and our guests by following relevant Health and Safety policies.
Model high performance, flexibility, and kindness in a rapidly changing growth environment.
Other duties as required and assigned.
Qualifications & Knowledge
At least two years of experience in early childhood programming, educational programming, interpretation, arts, or working with diverse audiences.
Post-secondary related to Early Childhood Education is considered an asset.
Experience in the museum and/or tourism industries is considered an asset.
Experience as a creative ambassador for science who uses the arts to connect through science.
An enthusiasm for science, technology, and STEAM.
A passion for creating an amazing guest experience, regularly going above and beyond to create memorable, exciting experiences for guests.
A proven track record of adding value to an organization's culture and initiatives.
A positive attitude!
