Active Start Childcare is a thriving and established company based in Calgary, with affiliated centers in Airdrie. The position we are currently hiring for is situated in a large and dynamic environment, offering both daycare and out-of-school care programs. We are presently seeking a

Lead Cook

for our program. Ideal candidates will have previous experience as a cook, preferably in daycare settings, retirement homes, catering, or similar work environments.

Responsibilities

for this position include preparing meals for approximately 500 children for breakfast, lunch, and snacks according to pre-set menus and recipes. Additionally, the role entails ensuring the cleanup of dishes and ensuring the kitchen's cleanliness and sanitation. The successful candidate will adhere to all Alberta health, fire and food safety regulations, as well as Active Start's Food Safety Plan. Additionally, the position involves weekly food ordering using our food order guide and managing deliveries.

A successful candidate would be highly motivated, adaptable, organized, physically fit, and possess strong multitasking and leadership skills. This person must have a current criminal record check (with vulnerable sections search), first aid certification and food safe certification (completed within the past 5 years), or be willing to obtain these items upon being hired. This person must either posses a Level 1 Alberta Child Care certification or be willing to work towards it.
