Job Description

THE OPPORTUNITY



Reporting to the Director, Compliance , Labour and Employment and Incidence Management and supporting the Compliance, Safeguarding and Employment Heads in the team, the Lead, Compliance , Governance and Risk Management will be responsible for providing compliance , governance and risk support to ensure that the team function efficiently and that the F oundation operate in complia nce with applicable regulatory / statutory and internal policy requirements , disclosures and filings .


WAYS TO CONTRIBUTE



Support the Compliance, safeguarding and employment team to:


Ensure ethical integrity, regulatory adherence, and risk mitigation while aligning with the organization's mission. Provide end-to-end risk management support including risk assessment, identification, mitigation, and remediation including the maintenance of an up to date risk register of the key compliance, safeguarding and employment risks Ensure the documentation, tracking and monitoring of adherence by the Foundation to local and international laws, industry regulations, and ethical standards. Maintain up-to-date controls register for all statutory and policy provisions and support the Foundation to ensure compliance Support with gap analysis and document, monitor and track to closure all gaps identified in gap analysis undertaken. Document, monitor, track and report on the team's performance against the agreed annual workplan. Support the team to schedule and undertake capacity building, training and communication activities for the year and to ensure that the training calendar for the year is updated and followed. Responsible for maintaining and updating the Compliance GRC tool Develop and maintain governance frameworks that support transparency, accountability, and ethical decision-making. Create and enforce policies that align with the organization's values and legal obligations. Provide compliance project management support as and when new projects and initiatives are being rolled out. Conduct internal reviews and monitoring to assess compliance gaps and implement corrective actions. Collaborate with internal stakeholders to own and drive compliance, safeguarding, employment and risk initiatives and best practices. Develop strategies to handle compliance violations or organizational risks effectively. Champion a values-based compliance culture as our organization evolves including supporting the roll out of compliance initiatives such as data protection, GVV and GEP programs. Undertake regular and ad hoc reporting to employees and key stakeholders in the Foundation including management teams, Country Directors, Exco Members and the Board. Undertake any other duties as assigned from time to time.

WHO YOU ARE



Degree in law (LLB or JD), business management, IT, risk, project management or any other related field. A certification in risk or audit would be an added advantage. Experience in undertaking controls and process design, implementation, assessment, monitoring, and testing would be preferred. Experience working in project management would be an added advantage. Minimum of 6 years of experience working in compliance, risk, or internal audit function for a reputable company or consulting firm with a demonstrated record of success. Excellent computer skills, particularly in MS word, excel, access and PowerPoint. Proficiency in the utilization of compliance reporting, risk-management tools and software would be an added advantage. Strong leadership, organizational and analytical skills. Strong interpersonal and listening skills and is open and receptive to feedback. Must be fluent in English. A working knowledge of French would be an added advantage. Ability to exercise appropriate and sound judgement and discretion in dealing with Compliance/risk matters. Results driven; motivated by a high sense of performance excellence and a sense of urgency. Innovative and entrepreneurial; can formulate and develop new or creative approaches to problems and inspires others on the team to do so as well. Flexible, adaptable, and able to execute a range of job duties and changing priorities. Possess excellent verbal, written, and presentation skills with the ability to articulate information to a variety of constituents across cultures. Possess professional maturity, sensitivity with different cultures, and impeccable integrity that exemplifies the Foundation's values.
