Job Description

About Synaptic

Synaptic is a Calgary-based registered charity providing community-funded neurorehabilitation. We aim to remove barriers, physical, financial, and social, so people living with spinal cord injuries, brain injuries, Multiple Sclerosis, Parkinson's, and other neurological conditions can access cutting-edge care and community support.

We are more than a clinic, we are a community hub where clients, families, clinicians, and supporters can come together. We're powered by creativity, compassion, and collaboration, and we're looking for someone who's excited to grow their career while helping us grow our impact.

The Role

The Lead Community Connector helps Synaptic stay connected to the people who make our work possible, clients, families, donors, partners, and supporters.

This role is all about building relationships, supporting events and fundraising efforts, and helping the team share the incredible impact happening inside our clinic. You'll support the Executive Director and team on donor outreach, community engagement, and stewardship, while assisting with communications and events that help tell Synaptic's story.

This role is a great fit for someone early in their career who brings a growth mindset, is comfortable with communications or outreach, and has a genuine interest in advocacy and community impact. You're a natural connector who's eager to learn the inner workings of a purpose-driven organization and grow into a future leadership role.

What You'll Do

Community Engagement & Donor Support

Build and maintain authentic connections with donors, partners, and supporters.

Support outreach, stewardship, and donor recognition activities.

Assist with coordinating community events and fundraising initiatives (e.g. Gala, Giving Tuesday, local collaborations).

Manage meeting follow-ups, thank-you notes, and donor communications.

Help track donor information and engagement in our CRM system.

Communications Support

Work with the team to gather and share stories from clients and the community.

Assist with social media posts, newsletters, and event promotions.

Coordinate updates and photos for campaigns or community highlights.

Support content creation and brand consistency in collaboration with Synaptic's communications team.

Event & Connection

Help organize logistics and materials for fundraising and outreach events.

Represent Synaptic at community & corporate functions and help build our local presence.

Support committee meetings (Fund Development, Gala Planning, etc.) through scheduling, minutes, and follow-ups.

Who You Are

Comfortable with basic tech tools (email communications, Canva, Office Suite, social media).

Excited about Synaptic's mission and passionate about helping others.

Bonus points if you have:

Experience in events, community engagement, communications, or nonprofit fundraising.

Basic understanding of donor and partner communications development and design tools (even if self-taught).

Previous volunteer or work experience in the charity/nonprofit sector.

---

Why Join Synaptic?

Be part of a close-knit, mission-driven team making real change in people's lives.
