Job Description

Your Opportunity:
Rural Surgical and Obstetrical Networks of Alberta (RSONA) is a multi-year, multi-million-dollar Surgical Care Alberta, Alberta Health Services and Covenant Health rural operational initiative. Successful implementation of RSONA will sustain and deliver improvements across the patient surgical journey and have lasting and long-term operational impacts including increased capacity, workforce stability and access provincially for rural surgery. This initiative offers a framework through which inter-professional teams for both surgery and obstetrics can be linked recognizing that they share human and infrastructure resources. To move forward and achieve the goal of coordinated, standardized patient care, rural health care teams need to be well integrated along the network outlined in the RSONA framework. Surgical and obstetrical networks would serve not only to support these teams professionally, but also to align the services they provide within AHS provincial and zone service planning. RSONA implementation is expected to be complex, spanning multiple health care departments across Surgical Care Alberta, Alberta Health Services, Alberta Health, Covenant Health, and often involving external stakeholders, especially academic affiliations that are partners in this work. Work requires depth and breadth of knowledge and skill to deliver solutions that address health and business needs. There should also be an understanding of implementation quantitative data, clinical quality support and research development. Project deadlines will frequently be under pressure and there are high expectations to deliver results within tight timelines. This position will be part of Acute Care Alberta effective April 1, 2025. By applying on this posting, if you are the successful candidate, you agree to and will become an employee of Acute Care Alberta.

This position will be focused on support for all six streams of RSONA (Residency training, continuing medical education, coaching, quality improvement and research, support for privileging and administrative) support for the Network. This will include working with internal stakeholders across all five Zones and have direct liaison with academic affiliations that certify and support healthcare education across the province and possibly Western Canada.
