What You Will Do





Reporting directly to the Manager of Daily Operations, the Lead Building Services Representative is a senior field staff position helps insure a well-kept and safe residential environment and responsible to ensure the physical assets of GVHS are cleaned and maintained in good working order. This position ensures that GVHS remains a desirable, inclusive and equitable employer, leads employee engagement and supports the GVHS mission of managing quality rental homes and contributing to thriving communities.



What You Bring




Knowledge of the Residential Tenancy Act and privacy and protection legislation. Ability to assess a situation and use demonstrated critical thinking skills to problem solve complex issues. Excellent Communication skills: clear, and concise manner both in writing and verbally, with a focus on customer service and inclusion. The ability to set priorities and handle several different issues simultaneously while maintaining safety and efficiency. The ability to keep accurate records and complete standardized forms in writing and on a computer. Knowledge of electrical, elevator, boiler, fire panel, mechanical systems, emergency back-up generator, irrigation sprinkler and timer systems. Physical ability to independently lift to fifty (50) pounds required Ability to use standardized software packages, including word processing, spreadsheets, presentations, and industry related software Ability to keep accurate records and complete standardized forms. Ability to break down complex processes into measurable tasks Experience developing, coaching, and guiding staff members to build equitable and diverse collaborative teams Proven ability to establish and maintain positive working relationships with others both internally and externally. Proven ability to train staff Proven record of flexibility and creativity. Proven ability to mentor, motivate, inspire, influence and lead others.
Excellent interpersonal skills
The ability to respond to issues with diplomacy and tact while communicating in a clear and concise manner. Ability to de-escalate situations to communicate respectfully and problem-solve.




Your Working Conditions




Work is carried out in all buildings owned by the Greater Victoria Housing Society. Physically demanding work environment; 60% physical work, 40% administrative Occasional lifting and moving of equipment, furniture, and appliances. Potential exposure to needle and drug paraphernalia, natural death of residents and potential health hazards (personal protective equipment available). Interact with tenants demanding resolution to maintenance problems or problems Union membership: CUPE Local 1978
Provision of own vehicle required
Hours of Work as provided in the Collective Agreement
Proof of full vaccination against Covid-19
Field Dress Code.




Compensation:

$30.61/hr (35 hour work week)
