iGaming Ontario is seeking an experienced Lead, Analytics & Data Science, who will be responsible for the delivery of custom analysis and advanced analytics solutions, that will inform data-driven decisions across all departments of iGO to support financial management, AML activities & workflows optimizations, development of policies and responsible gambling tools, and market & player insights. This role will mentor talent, supervise outputs, ensure seamless operations, promote data-driven strategies and best industry practices of Data Science, and act as a liaison between Analytics, stakeholders and technical support functions.



Reporting to the Manager, Analytics & BI you will:



Lead design, development and successful delivery of player, operator and market' analysis and advanced analytics solutions, to inform financial, AML, responsible gambling, and policy development decisions: Collaborate with the stakeholders across different departments within the organization to understand their needs and objectives. Develop approaches and methodologies for tailored exploratory analysis, predictive & forecasting models and segmentation solutions, leveraging deep business insight and solid statistical rigor to ensure alignment with business objectives, accuracy & robustness of results, scalable design and efficient execution. Plan, lead and provide hands-on execution of exploratory and advanced analytics initiatives, ensuring timely, high-quality, efficient delivery on commitments. Define analytical data requirements and drive the development of engineered features that deepen analytical insights and improve performance of advanced analytics solutions. Create presentations that deliver analysis, insights and recommendations to the stakeholders in a clear and business-friendly manner. Liaise with technical partners on the deployment of analytic solutions into production for ongoing use. Ensure ongoing performance of analytics in production through regular performance validations and identification of improvement opportunities. Initiate and drive revisions and improvements, as necessary. Spearhead automations & optimizations to data and analytical capabilities and workflows: Drive implementation and compliance with the Best Practices of advanced analytics, analytical data design and coding practices. Continuously enrich & standardize analytical data and spearhead the deployment of new engineered data artifacts into the Analytical Datamart for shared use. Create, standardize and automate code used for the development of exploratory analysis (e.g. profiling analysis), as well as development & deployment of predictive models & segmentation solutions. Contribute to the development of data, coding and analytical skills of the team through coaching and mentorship: Review work outputs for more junior members of the team to ensure accuracy and compliance with best practices. Provide 1:1 coaching to more junior members of the team, as needed, to improve skills and develop talent. Develop training materials, maximizing the technical competence of the team. Oversee the execution of the operational tasks performed by Analysts / Sr. Analysts Support organizational improvement initiatives and implementation of data-centric culture. Actively contribute to the ongoing development of the data analytics program for the Ontario online casino and betting market and act as a subject matter expert in an interdisciplinary insights team. Contribute to the continuous improvement in departmental processes, workflows and culture.

The ideal candidate will have:



Familiarity with the gaming industry including knowledge of casino gambling and sports wagering is an asset. University Degree in Analytics, Data Mining, Machine Learning, Statistics, Business Administration, Economics or any other relevant field. 5+ of experience designing and developing exploratory analysis in the conditions of ambiguity and open-ended business questions, based on own methodologies tailored to business objectives. 5+ of experience designing and developing predictive models and segmentations using advanced analytics techniques (e.g. linear and logistic regression, decision trees (e.g. CHAID), clustering techniques (e.g. K-Means)) based on own methodologies tailored to business objectives. Strong experience executing statistical analysis (e.g. correlation analysis) and data reduction techniques (e.g. principal components / factor analytics, stepwise regression, variable clustering). Advanced SQL, Python and R coding skills and ability to create production-ready, scalable, reusable, configurable code. Superior knowledge of Microsoft Office suite. Ability to program VBA is a strong asset. Strong understanding of relational databases. Competency in Business Intelligence tools such as Power BI is an asset. Excellent interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills, including negotiation and issues management. Excellent project management and project oversight skills. Excellent ability to conceptualize, evaluate, and problem-solve. Ability to apply strategic and sound judgement and sensitivity to issues and ability to work with a diverse client group and staff at all levels of the agency. Ability to inspire, motivate, and guide team members towards achieving common goals. Ability to make timely and informed decisions that benefit the team and organization. Ability to build strong relationships with team members, fostering a collaborative and supportive environment. Ability to provide guidance, support, and feedback to help team members grow professionally.

This position currently offers a hybrid work location. iGaming Ontario has implemented a minimum three-day per week in-office schedule. iGaming Ontario reserves the right to change this policy and its office location at any time.



This position falls within the scope of a bargaining unit represented by the Ontario Public Service Employees Union (OPSEU). In the upcoming months, iGaming Ontario and OPSEU will be negotiating the terms of a collective agreement which, once concluded, will govern the terms and conditions of this position.
