Job Title: Layout Carpenter (Construction Surveyor Experience Welcome)
Location: Victoria, BC
Start Date: ASAP
Wage: $35-$45 per hour (depending on experience)
About the Role:
We are currently seeking an experienced Layout Carpenter to join our team in Victoria. The ideal candidate is highly skilled in layout work and confident using survey equipment. This role is essential to ensuring accuracy and quality across all stages of construction.
Key Responsibilities:
Perform precise layout using theodolites and total stations
Establish and verify elevations, benchmarks, and control points
Lay out embeds, door rough openings, header steel heights, and other structural elements
Interpret drawings, plans, and specifications
Collaborate with site supervisors and crews to ensure layout accuracy
Maintain equipment and ensure proper calibration
Qualifications:
Proven experience as a Layout Carpenter or Construction Surveyor
Strong understanding of total stations, elevations, and construction layout fundamentals
Ability to work independently with high accuracy
Strong communication and problem-solving skills
Reliability and professionalism on site
Nice to Have:
Formal training in layout or surveying
Experience with theodolites and advanced layout equipment
Ability to adapt and support broader carpentry tasks as needed
