We are currently seeking a Law Clerk to join our Vaughan office to provide support to the Litigation, Family Law Practice Group. This role will have a hybrid work arrangement. The possibility of having a fully remote schedule can also be considered, with in-office presence only if required.

The Family Litigation Law Clerk/Paralegal is a key team member, responsible for assisting the lawyers in their assigned practice group to manage assignments and priorities to ensure deadlines are met and files are continuously and consistently moving forward. An individual who is responsive, intelligent, resourceful, and possesses a professional attitude with great client service skills is key to this role and paramount to the firm achieving success for its clients.

Key Responsibilities:

Drafting & Revising

  • Draft various Court and legal documents related to applications, affidavits, separation agreements, domestic contracts, motion materials, minutes of settlement, continuing records, conference briefs and order;
  • Draft various correspondence to the Court, opposing counsel and external parties;
  • Draft charts summarizing support payments and extraordinary expenses;
Reviewing & Summarizing
  • Review and summarize various productions received from clients, opposing counsel and external parties;
Preparing, Assembling & Assisting
  • Prepare Financial and Net Family Property statements;
  • Assist in management of uncontested divorce files from inception to completion;
  • Prepare and assemble various briefs and other materials required for case conferences, hearings, motions and trials;
  • Prepare document and financial disclosure briefs;
  • Assist with business development initiatives;
Liaising & Communicating
  • Liaise with clients, opposing counsel, various court trial coordinators and other external parties as required;
  • Communicate potential issues to the attention of supervising lawyer;
  • Schedule appointments, monitor supervising lawyer calendar, respond to inquiries and requests while documenting all interactions;
Miscellaneous
  • Other duties as required (i.e. faxing, scanning, filing)
What you\'ll bring:
  • Law Clerk Diploma and/or Paralegal Licence/Diploma.
  • At least 1 year of Family Law experience.
  • Solid understanding of current legal terminology and working knowledge of the civil procedure Court rules where applicable.
  • Advanced knowledge of and experience with litigation support software applications such as Microsoft Outlook, Word, Excel, Adobe Acrobat and Primafact, with the ability to problem solve.
  • Advanced technical, skills with knowledge of CD/DVD burning, software, copying onto USB\xe2\x80\x99s as well as familiarity with transferring documents electronically through FTP transfer sites.
  • Excellent communication skills and ability to adapt communication style, as necessary, when communicating with
clients and other team members. * Superior ability to multi-task with flexibility to handle increasingly more complex

competing deadlines and demands. * Excellent organizational and time management skills.
  • Strong work ethic with the advanced ability to work independently towards contributing to the team.
