About the role




We’re looking for a Law Clerk to join our growing team!

Are you a motivated, high energy, and highly organized person with a ‘can do’ attitude? This position could be for you. As a Law Clerk, you will support the Corporate Secretary’s Office team in the Corporate Legal Department and assist in ensuring the efficient operation of the team.

Here are a few ways you'll make a difference:

  • Help organizing meetings for the Board of Directors and Board Committees.
  • Help planning for Board annual schedule of meetings and material submission schedules, prepare drafts of meeting notices, agendas, minutes, resolutions and other material as needed.
  • Help collecting meeting materials, organize and upload to board portal (Directors Desk).
  • Help with the logistics and facilitate all meetings, arrange for room booking, audio/visual equipment, telephone conference and catering (when required), including offsite.
  • Help with the maintenance of a compliance calendar, including.
  • Conduct statutory online or paper filings for the licensing and registrations for all regulated entities of the Group, annual returns and extra-provincial filings in accordance with jurisdictional requirements.
  • Ensure compliance with all authorities as required by company by-laws, relevant government laws and regulations.
  • Assist the Legal Department with internal corporate transactions / reorganizations, helping preparing appropriate corporate documentation.
  • Other legal and corporate secretarial functions (such as answering questions from, and providing documents to, various Business Units).
  • Participate as required in special projects and any other related task.




Qualifications




What you bring to the table:
  • 2 to 3 years of experience as a law clerk/paralegal in a large law firm or a large internal legal department, in commercial, corporate and / or insurance law.
  • Paralegal/Law Clerk Diploma in College Studies (CDS) or undergraduate university degree in law (or equivalences).
  • Superior organization skills and ability to deliver results in a fast-paced dynamic environment.
  • Strong resourcefulness, ability to work autonomously and strong judgment.
  • Ability to handle multiple priorities and deadlines.
  • Excellent listening and communication skills and the ability to tactfully foster strong working relationships.
  • Proven ability to maintain discretion and strict confidentiality.
