The salary range for this position is CAD $25.26/Hr. - CAD $25.26/Hr.
Summary
In accordance with the Mission, Vision and Values, and strategic directions of Providence Health Care, the position promotes a safe environment for patients, residents, families, visitors and staff.
Reporting to the Leader, Distribution Services or Supervisor, Laundry & Linen this position provides laundry services by performing duties such as:

  • Collecting, sorting, washing, drying, folding, weighing, and distributing laundry and/or linens.
  • Performs alterations and repairs on garments and furnishings by operating a sewing machine.

Education:
  • Grade 10 plus one year's recent related experience or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience
Skills and Abilities:
  • Ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing.
  • Able to deal with others effectively.
  • Physical ability to carry out the duties of the position.
  • Ability to operate related equipment.
  • Ability to organize work.

Your Day to Day:
  • Collects, weighs, sorts and records soiled linen and laundry. Delivers soiled laundry to laundry room.
  • Loads and unloads washers and dryers, selects wash cycles, sets temperature and switches machine on and off.
  • Folds, sorts, and irons dry laundry.
  • Transfers clean linen from clean linen carts to hospital carts according to determined quantities and quotas.
  • Distributes clean linen and laundry to user areas.
  • Perform alterations and repairs, on clothing and furnishings such as curtains and drapes by operating a sewing machine.
  • Prints clothing labels and attaches to personal laundry items.
  • Cleans and maintains related equipment and designated areas.
  • Checks machines regularly to ensure safe and effective functioning and notifies supervisor of equipment malfunctions.
  • Maintains linen and laundry supplies such as mops, tea towels, and clean-up rags for deliver to various areas, by requisitioning supplies, restocking, folding, and packing.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned.
