The Laser Operator is responsible for the setup, operation, and maintenance of laser cutting equipment used in the production of die boards, steel components, and other precision materials. This role ensures that all work is completed accurately, safely, and efficiently in alignment with production specifications and company quality standards. The Laser Operator may also assist in the computer room and broader production area (die shop) as needed.
Key Responsibilities:
Operate laser cutting machinery to produce die boards and related components according to customer specifications and job requirements.
Prioritize tasks in the following sequence:
Laser cut components
Assemble male and female strippers
Assemble blister sealing jigs
Assist in general production as needed
Ensure all assigned work is completed in a timely manner and meets quality standards.
Read and interpret worksheets thoroughly before beginning any job.
Conduct kirf tests using test blocks for each laser job to verify cut width and accuracy.
Verify width and depth for counter plates following the standard checklist.
Monitor and maintain inventory of materials (e.g., wood, gas); report low stock levels to managers.
Perform routine maintenance and cleaning of laser equipment, including lenses, nozzles, and work tables.
Respect and properly use shared equipment and tools.
Warm up and prepare all machines prior to operation to ensure optimal performance.
Load and unload die boards and other materials as required.
Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment at all times.
Support other departments as needed, including the computer room and general die shop production.
Perform any additional duties as assigned by management.
Skills & Qualifications:
Previous experience operating laser cutting machines in a manufacturing or die-making environment preferred.
Ability to read and understand technical drawings, job worksheets, and material specifications.
Strong attention to detail and a commitment to high-quality work.
Basic mechanical aptitude and troubleshooting skills.
Strong organizational and time management skills.
Ability to work independently and collaboratively as part of a team.
Physically able to handle materials, including lifting and loading boards as needed.
Familiarity with safety procedures and equipment handling.
