About the role
We're seeking a
Large Equipment Service Technician
to join our growing service team. This hands-on role involves visiting customers' homes to assess, repair, and install mobility and home health equipment. From repairing rollators to mobility devices, you'll be a key part of our service delivery -- helping clients live more independently and safely.
The ideal candidate is mechanically inclined, compassionate, customer-focused, and driven to learn. You'll be working independently and collaboratively with a team focused on service excellence and company growth.
What you'll be doing
Service & Customer Support
Manage assigned service calls autonomously, both in-store and on-site, while partnering with team members to enhance response times and provide exceptional customer service that fosters brand loyalty.
Assess customer needs with empathy and suggest appropriate products or services, collaborating with internal teams to support cross-selling efforts and ensure efficient order processing.
Product Knowledge & Sales Support
Maintain strong product knowledge of mobility and medical equipment--diagnose, repair, and maintain a variety of mobility and home health products including rollators, lift chairs, hospital beds, and power mobility devices.
Stay up to date with third-party funding programs, company offerings, and promotions to assist customers effectively and maximize upselling opportunities.
Administrative & Documentation Duties
Prepare and track customer quotes and work orders, ensure accurate service and inventory records using company software, and process payments as needed.
Manage inventory of tools, materials, and parts required for installations; submit detailed, pre-approved expense reports to management.
Vehicle & Logistics Operations
Safely load, unload, operate, and maintain a Class 5 vehicle in compliance with Alberta Traffic Safety Act and company policies.
Health & Safety
Promote a safe and organized work environment by maintaining clean workspaces, following safety protocols, and ensuring documentation of training and equipment upkeep. Adhere to Occupational Health & Safety policies and contribute to a culture of safety awareness.
Perform physical tasks safely, including lifting up to 50 lbs solo or heavier with help, and pushing/pulling up to 100 lbs on carts.
Team Collaboration
Work closely with cross-department and multi-location teams to foster a collaborative, customer-first culture focused on team success and service excellence.
Skills & abilities
Customer-focused and adaptable with strong communication skills.
Basic understanding of schematics, mechanical systems, and technical drawings.
Hands-on experience in residential trades (carpentry preferred; plumbing/electrical an asset).
High attention to detail and problem-solving skills.
Comfortable using digital tools and learning new technology.
Physically capable of lifting 50 lbs, pushing/pulling 100 lbs with a cart, and using hand and power tools.
Able to work both independently and as part of a team.
Education & experience
High school diploma strongly preferred.
Experience with medical equipment repair or installation (e.g., wheelchairs, hospital beds) is an asset.
Experience with installation, repair, or similar mechanical work may be considered.
Hands-on familiarity with hand tools and power tools required.
Valid Class 5 Driver's License, clean driving abstract, and background check required.
Standard First Aid certification is an asset.
Additional Considerations
Work environment varies and may include private homes, healthcare facility, and occasional travel outside Edmonton.
