Gnome and Gardens Organic Landcare is seeking to fill landscape maintenance positions for 4-5 days a week, beginning immediately. Come join our dynamic, supportive and plant-positive team! We\'re specifically looking for people who either have: experience in Landscape Horticulture and are willing to do technical training towards receiving their Red Seal, or; one or more levels of technical training completed in Landscape Horticulture and are looking to build their experience and education further. Starting wage is determined by experience and education level \xe2\x80\x93 $24 to $28/hr.
Available positions are for assistant gardeners in a full-time, permanent role. Great health, dental and extended benefits available after 3 months.
Paid educational opportunities available for people wishing to start or carry on their trades training in Landscape Horticulture. Horticultural education and apprenticeship is mandatory for all staff within the first year of employment, and will lead to pay raises and access to government grants for you. We are also a SkilledTradesBC-certified sponsor for people working towards their Red Seal in Horticulture. All levels of Red Seal apprentices are welcome, encouraged and supported. The ideal candidate has: - At least one level completed in their Red Seal apprenticeship in Landscape Horticulture, or equivalent training.
\xe2\x80\x93 2+ years experience in landscaping and/or organic gardening.
\xe2\x80\x93 A knowledge and passion for horticulture, including plant identification, care and maintenance.
\xe2\x80\x93 Experience in maintenance tasks such as line trimming, edging, weeding, mulching, pruning, hedge trimming.
\xe2\x80\x93 A clean class 5 driver\xe2\x80\x99s license
\xe2\x80\x93 A friendly, social, and easy-going personality that can work well with others.
\xe2\x80\x93 Ability to take direction and adapt to new situations.
\xe2\x80\x93 Good people skills, and is comfortable dealing with clients in a professional and positive manner.
\xe2\x80\x93 Most important is a motivation to learn lots, work hard and really \xe2\x80\x98git \xe2\x80\x98er done\xe2\x80\x99.
