We are currently looking for a Lands and Rights Specialist to join our Corporate Facilities team in a permanent position reporting to the Real Estate Manager.

As a Lands and Rights Specialist, you will:

  • Take full ownership of the land transaction recommendation, review, and approvals process, including proactive engagement with business leaders and executive to ensure timely reviews of recommendations.
  • Lead the modernization and further use of technology for continued migration of paper-based records to electronic format to improve our document storage and controls. Represent the Real Estate team on corporate document control initiatives like the Records Information Management (RIM) project.
  • Provide proactive recommendations and lead the review and approval processes for land-related transactions on large renewable energy-related capital projects (e.g., ECEI) while continuing to manage regular operational requirements.
  • Provide support to Environment, Legal and Mi\xe2\x80\x99kmaq Relations teams in their development of Transmission and Distribution Agreements in Mi\xe2\x80\x99kmaq Communities.
  • Work with the Procurement & Real Estate Analytics team to identify and develop key performance indicators, document existing processes, and identify potential continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Maintain and update existing electronic property mapping databases to ensure accessibility for the business.
  • Possess the potential for oversight of a Survey Technician or Junior Survey Technologist should the requirements of projects like ECEI or other large transmission projects drive a requirement for that position (this would be communicated as a future expectation of this Lands and Rights Specialist.

  • You must possess a minimum Grade 12 education and a certificate or degree from a secondary institution in a related field or an equivalent combination of work experience and other education.
  • You will have a minimum of 5 years\xe2\x80\x99 experience in a survey related discipline, paralegal or property rights environment or related field.
  • You are proficient with CAD based software.
  • You must be able to interpret legal documents and survey plans.
  • You are familiar with ArcGIS software, proficient with Microsoft Office and are quick to learn new software packages.
  • You are a team player who is confident working independently. You thrive and work effectively in a fast-paced, deadline driven, team-focused environment.
  • You possess strong communication skills, are customer focused and comfortable working with confidential information.
  • You must be highly organized, and detail oriented with the ability to adapt to change and remain focused under pressure.
