Job Summary: The incumbent supplies general labouring services to the Parks & Recreation Department in the Shipyards Park facility and for special events in City parks. Duties and Responsibilities: 1. Provides set-up/take down and general labouring tasks for special events, meetings.
2. Monitors public use of the Shipyards Park facility and enforces established standards of conduct and decorum.
3. Acts as a liaison with groups hosting events.
4. Follows, so far as is reasonably practicable, established safety procedures and standards.
5. Removes snow from facility entrances, emergency exits, walkways and skating loop and picks up garbage.
6. Performs custodial duties.
7. Answers or distributes enquiries, and distributes information.
8. Records electrical meters before and after events.
9. Performs other related duties as assigned.

CATEGORY *Recreation & SportsPOSITION REQUIREMENTS Working Conditions: 8-hour shifts, including evening and weekend work. Outside work in all kinds of weather. Required Knowledge, Skill and Abilities:
  • Completion of Grade 10
  • Standard First Aid Certificate, CPR Level C - 16 hours
  • Class 5 Drivers\xe2\x80\x99 License
  • Previous Experience - 1 year related
  • On-the-job experience - 2.5 months
  • Self-directed and flexible with interpersonal and general \xe2\x80\x9chandyperson\xe2\x80\x9d skills
An equivalent combination of education, training and experience may be considered. Examples of Equipment to Operate: Janitorial equipment and chemicals, grounds and maintenance equipment, floor vacuum, minor hand and power tools, first aid, vehicles, bobcat, communications equipment and computer with applications such as ERP and Outlook.
