Job Description
The Village of Harrison Hot Springs is seeking a Labourer for a 6-month position with the Public Works Department.
Under the direct supervision of the Public Works Supervisor, the labourer in this position shall be responsible for a variety of manual tasks and duties. These tasks and duties are typically physical in nature and may require the use of small tools and equipment.
Core Responsibilities
oClearing weeds/brush from roadways, culverts, ditches and other public properties
oWeeding, line trimming, and grass cutting/mowing
oCrack and pothole filling
oSolid waste, recycling, and litter pickup
oSweeping and cleaning
oCleaning and maintenance of Village facilities, roads, and sidewalks
Qualifications and Abilities
oMinimum Grade 12 education
oOne (1) year of related experience as a Labourer - municipal experience would be an asset
oValid Class 5 Driver's License is required
oAble to operate chain saws, weed eaters, lawn mowing equipment, light trucks, jack hammers, saws, compactors and other related tools and equipment
oGood interpersonal skills, polite, tactful and courteous while dealing with the public
oGood health and sufficient strength, stamina and coordination to carry out associated duties in all weather conditions
oAble to understand and effectively carry out verbal and written instructions
Wage Rate
$33.78 per hour plus 15% in lieu of benefits; plus shift premium applies for any hours worked after 6pm
Work Terms and Hours of Work
This unionized position will consist of 5 days per week and 7.5 hours per day with an anticipated 6-month duration. Shifts will include evenings, Saturdays and Sundays.
