Job Responsibilities and Accountabilities:
Plan the daily and weekly work schedule based on Grower's request, assign personnel based on the resources available, time, and employees' performance, accomplish work results by establishing priorities, monitoring progress, resolving problems and reporting results, following company standards
Maintains focus on productivity, cost control, efficiencies and production improvements
Ensures labor and crop activities are being scheduled efficiently, accommodating sudden change or needs based on sales/ volumes
Ensure all activities in the greenhouse are executed in an adequate manner by providing all necessary training to greenhouse employees
Maintain a safe and clean work environment by educating and directing personnel on the adequate use of the resources, maintaining compliance with all established company policies and procedures
Identify the need of training or re-training of greenhouse employees and ensure or coordinate the necessary steps to make it happen
Resolve personnel problems by analyzing data, investigating issues, identifying solutions, and recommending action
Evaluate performance and quality of work of the Greenhouse employees, conducting meetings to address concerns related to behavior, results, performance or quality of work and provide the coaching necessary for the achievement of new goals
Initiate and conduct disciplinary processes when necessary according to company standards of conduct and performance, and when company rules or regulations are ignored or violated
Ensure all protocols and procedures of Food Safety and Health and Safety are strictly followed
Ensure proper operation of equipment by calling for repairs, evaluating new equipment and techniques
Maintain a positive work environment initiating and fostering a spirit of cooperation within and between departments
Maintain professional and technical knowledge by attending educational workshops, attending meetings and making part of different committees among the company
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
High School Diploma or equivalent is preferred
2 or more years of relevant work experience
Ability to communicate effectively (written, oral and spoken) in English; Spanish will be considered an asset
Ability to work independently and on a work team environment
Highly energetic and assertive with strong leadership skills
Able to identify opportunities for continuous improvement
Proven ability to prioritize as required
Physical Abilities:
Must be able to sit, stand, and/or walk for extended periods of time
Must be able to bend, stretch, twist, or reach with body, arms, and/or legs
Must be able to lift material regularly up to 14 kg / 30 lbs; and occasionally up to 23 kg / 50lbs
Must be able to climb stairs and stand on feet for an extended period of time
Must be able to work in a temperature-controlled environment of approximately 13 ?C / 55 ?F to 21-31C (70-86F)
