Responsibilities include assisting with review and management of patient safety event reports and providing guidance to operational areas on efficient handling and appropriate resolution of nonconforming events. This position also supports reporting of aggregate data for process improvement purposes, various initiatives and assigned projects, and provides ongoing customer support between individuals, departments, sites, and programs. In addition to a competitive rate of pay, APL currently has a Remote Retention Allowance in place to an annual maximum of $3,000. This allowance is non-pensionable and is payable on an hourly basis for all hours paid at the basic rate of pay.

As a Medical Laboratory Technologist (MLT) II, you will coordinate the day-to-day operations and the quality control function of the laboratory. You may have advanced technical knowledge or are the lead responsible for coordinating the day-to-day operations of Laboratory Information System (LIS) support, site education, quality assurance or laboratory research programs. Your responsibilities may include coordinating, prioritizing, monitoring and assigning work to MLT l's, providing technical advice, problem solving and trouble shooting on a variety of laboratory instruments. In addition, you will participate in the technical aspects of the laboratory, ensuring the performance of standard and specialized procedures.

Required Qualifications:
Completion of an accredited Medical Laboratory Technology (MLT) program. Active or eligible for registration and practice permit with the College of Medical Laboratory Technologists of Alberta (CMLTA).
Additional Required Qualifications:
Minimum of two (2) years' experience in the last 5 years in a clinical laboratory setting, ideally in an organization of significant size, complexity, and diversity. Recent (within the last 5 years) experience using a Non-conforming Event (NCE) system for reporting, investigation, and improvement activities (e.g. RLS, IMS).
Preferred Qualifications:
Formal certificate in Quality Management Systems. Formal certificate in Process Improvement (e.g., AIW Green Belt). Formal certificate in Change Management (e.g., ProSCI), and/or Project Management.
