Your Opportunity:




As a Medical Laboratory Technologist in Clinical Microbiology (Bacteriology), you will perform, interpret, and report a variety of bacterial testing, specialized serology, and rapid molecular testing. The Technologist I will work within a team setting and ensure quality competency, high quality testing operations, and accurate results. Additionally, the Laboratory Technologist I will follow established safety protocols and work within the established quality system to uphold required accreditation standards. Under the direction of the medical/scientific staff The Laboratory Technologist I is also responsible for operating laboratory technical equipment and training of new staff, and residents. Responsibilities also include entering and validating results, new technology assessments, accreditation processes and maintaining document readership.

Description:



As a Medical Laboratory Technologist (MLT) I, you will be responsible for the daily processing, testing, results analysis and reporting of diagnostic samples within the laboratory department. You will perform a variety of routine and specialized procedures in the processing of specimens used in diagnosis, treatment and research.

Required Qualifications:

Completion of an accredited Medical Laboratory Technology (MLT) program. Active or eligible for registration and practice permit with the College of Medical Laboratory Technologists of Alberta (CMLTA).

Additional Required Qualifications:

One to two years of recent Bacteriology experience within the past 5 years in a Public Health Laboratory.

Preferred Qualifications:

One to two years of experience operating molecular/NAT instruments. Demonstrates excellent problem-solving skills, critical thinking, and analytical skills. Knowledgeable with the Human Pathogen and Toxins Act (HPTA). Experience with the Beaker Laboratory Information System.
