Reporting to the Technologist II, Supervisor and/ or Manager this position is responsible for making outgoing calls to communicate critical and STAT results and responding to incoming calls regarding laboratory results in Epic/Connect Care, testing procedures and specimen collection requirements. Communicates critical test results for General Lab and Microbiology by phone. Communicates STAT test results by phone or fax. Responds to incoming calls that may include, but are not limited to, inquiries for results from health care providers and patients, and inquiries regarding lab procedures and collections. When appropriate, redirects inquiries for successful resolution. Troubleshoots and refers client inquiries/concerns to senior divisional staff for resolution and follow up as appropriate. Performs and documents client response duties in accordance with laboratory policies and procedures to ensure a high quality, accurate and timely result. Recognizes unusual or abnormal findings and alerts the appropriate senior staff. Contributes to the ongoing improved operation of the area. Assists with staff scheduling as required. Assist with the training, orientation and maintenance of competency of students and staff. Assists with the preparation of SOPs as required.

Required Qualifications:
Completion of an accredited Medical Laboratory Technology (MLT) program. Active or eligible for registration and practice permit with the College of Medical Laboratory Technologists of Alberta (CMLTA).
Additional Required Qualifications:
Proficiency in data entry.
Preferred Qualifications:
MLT experience within the last 2 years working in a Laboratory Information Centre. Experience in a Call Centre environment. Working knowledge of the Epic Beaker module, Millennium, Genesys Phone System, Netcare and Muse. Ability to handle a large amount of work efficiently and effectively, given exposure to continual interruptions. Courses, certificates or training in communication, customer service, process improvement and change management. Intermediate to Advanced computer skills.
