Laboratory Technicians (Contract) \xe2\x80\x93 Organic Main Lab, LC/MS PFAS Lab

As a Laboratory Technician, your main responsibilities are to:
Perform sample handling, extraction and clean-up of environmental matrices for the determination of contaminants of environmental concern.

  • Perform all duties in accordance with established Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) to maintain sample integrity and produce high quality, defensible data.
  • Prepare reagents and/or analytical standards required for sample extraction.
  • Verify, calibrate and maintain volumetric devices and other laboratory equipment.
  • Ensure all documentation is clear and concise allowing for full traceability and reconstruction of tasks performed.
  • Under the guidance of Supervisor or Senior Chemist, participate in the development and validation of new methodologies.
  • Suggest and help to implement changes in procedures and processes, which could improve efficiency, productivity, quality, etc.
  • Assist in monitoring the inventory of supplies/consumables required for daily operations.
  • General lab support including, washing glassware, archiving samples, etc.
  • Support and enforce strict adherence to corporate Quality and Health & Safety policies.
  • Keep work area clean, neat and organized.
  • Other responsibilities as assigned by their Supervisor.



You are the ideal Laboratory Technician, if you have a:

  • Post-secondary diploma/degree in environmental or chemical science; or a related discipline.
  • Previous experience in a Laboratory environment.
  • The ability to accurately understand and follow Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and instructions.
  • Practical and/or theoretical knowledge of complex sample handling/extraction techniques (e.g. SPE, LLE, etc.). Experience with automated extraction equipment would be an asset.
  • Willingness to learn and continually update skills and knowledge through training.
  • Excellent attention to detail. Well organised with good record keeping abilities.
  • Dynamic, energetic, motivated, collaborative with positive outlook, and \xe2\x80\x9ccan-do" attitude.



Day shift Monday to Thursday, with one weekend
