Under the limited supervision of the Dean, Science, Technologies & Health, and the general supervision of the Department Chairperson, installs and maintains lab and general Water Engineering equipment; troubleshoots, repairs, upgrades, and optimizes equipment; organizes and maintains an inventory of supplies and equipment; provides technical support to faculty; assists students in safe operation of equipment; prepares materials and equipment for lab sessions; maintains laboratories and equipment rooms; maintains current MSDS and WHMIS documentation; ensures safe collection, transportation, handling and disposal of water and wastewater samples from local surface water and industrial and commercial water treatment facilities; ensures safe storage and disposal of used chemicals; designs, constructs, maintains and operates bench scale water and wastewater unit processes for laboratory experiments; installs and maintains specialized water and wastewater analysis and control equipment; and performs other related duties as required.

Education and Experience
Completion of Grade 12 or equivalent and graduation from a two-year college Engineering Technology program or equivalent in a related area. Must also possess a valid Occupational First Aid - Level 2 - certificate. Over 4 years and up to and including 6 years experience in a water quality technology or related field.
Skills and Abilities
Proven ability to repair and service equipment and industry instrumentation including calibration, trouble-shooting, software updates and repair
Excellent trouble-shooting skills
Ability to perform tasks to a high standard
Proven proficiency in technologies such as: MS Office, MS Teams, online purchasing software, Learning Management Systems (Moodle, Blackboard, etc)
Demonstrated project management skills
Have efficient, safe work ethics
Knowledge of maintaining log books, tool inventory, and water treatment records etc.
The ability to maintain effective interpersonal relationships and exercise courtesy, tact and discretion
Must have strong analytical and problem solving skills and work well in a team environment
Must be flexible and able to manage high work volume and conflicting priorities to meet deadlines
Flexible and comfortable with change
Able to perform work of a routine nature with minimal or no direct supervision
