Your opportunity:

The laboratory coordinator will be an integral member of the Centre for the Sustainable Built Environment (CSBE) within the Department of Civil & Mineral Engineering. They will work with faculty and students in the Centre to create new data on construction material use in buildings and cities, to maintain and build on the existing dataset and support incoming students to learn the skills and methods they need to create and work with the data. The position provides support for collaboration with industry partners in collecting of confidential building drawings and the proper storing and processing of the drawings. They will build REVIT BIMs (or equivalent software) and work with other material take off software as appropriate. The laboratory coordinator will support the writing and publishing of academic papers and non-academic writing on research stemming from the data created. They will follow, and support others in following, strict confidentiality and data control protocols.

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Proofing and posting adverts to recruit applicants
  • Preparing consent forms using templates
  • Following rules and procedural instructions when administering research studies
  • Recording and tabulating experiment results
  • Providing some care to prevent physical or emotional injury or harm
  • Recording or verifying transactions on a single account
  • Providing orientation to others on work procedures and practices
Essential Qualifications:
  • Bachelor\'s Degree or acceptable combination of equivalent experience.
  • Minimum one year related experience in a research laboratory or as a laboratory coordinator
  • Experience recording experiment results and organizing research data
  • Demonstrated knowledge in Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint
  • Strong interpersonal, written and verbal communication skills
  • Demonstrated ability to work under pressure to meet multiple competing deadlines
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to make sound judgment and proven ability to work with a team and as a team member

  • Experience working with Revit or a similar BIM software
