Alberta Precision Laboratories (APL) has an exciting opportunity for a Medical Laboratory Assistant II to help lead and contribute to a high-performance lab. Working in the fast-paced, public-facing Patient Service Centre (PSC), you can perform lab processes and procedures, discern subtle differences in lab samples, and correctly and reliably enter lab data into system databases - even working with a big workload. You can effectively identify problems and apply critical thinking and sound judgement to proactively address the issue. You'll work independently and with others as you promote a patient-oriented, team-focused, and positive workplace that strives to be positive and respectful throughout all shifts from 0630 - 2100. ### Description:

As a Laboratory Assistant II, you will perform advanced preanalytical or analytical techniques on specimen/samples or coordinate, prioritize, monitor, and assign duties of laboratory staff in your assigned area. You will resolve escalated issues, conduct quality control investigations and maintain technical and operational procedures. You will be responsible for ensuring laboratory staff maintain compliance with policies and procedures and will provide coaching and feedback to staff and students.

Required Qualifications: Completion of an accredited Medical Laboratory Assistant program.

Additional Required Qualifications: Minimum three years experience as a Medical Laboratory Assistant. Excellent phlebotomy skills. ECG certification. Proficiency in data entry.

Preferred Qualifications: Community or Mobile outpatient experience, hospital experience may be considered. Minimum three months of leadership experience. Experience in training & competency assessment. Experience with Standing Order database entry. Courses, certificates or training in process improvement, change management, or leadership. Advanced/in depth working knowledge and experience with Microsoft Office. Knowledge or certificate in LEAN.
