Your Opportunity:

Alberta Precision Laboratories is seeking a Medical Laboratory Assistant I to join our dynamic team supporting both the East Edmonton Health Centre and Northeast Community Health Centre. The primary location for this position is the East Edmonton Health Centre. The East Edmonton Health Centre provides service to daytime Ambulatory Clinics & Imaging and evening Urgent Care departments. The Northeast Community Health Centre services 24/7 Emergency, Ambulatory Clinics & Diagnostic Imaging departments. Key Responsibilities include collect and process blood specimens (adults and children) using macro and micro phlebotomy techniques; perform ECGs and urinalysis; conduct data entry, requisition scanning, and sample processing for transport/testing; troubleshoot specimen issues and perform routine equipment maintenance; support outpatient, urgent care, emergency room, and waiting room collections.

Description:

As a Medical Laboratory Assistant I, you will provide high quality service to clients of the clinical laboratory in an effective, efficient and safe manner. You will be responsible for a variety of laboratory functions including procurement, handling, processing, dispatching and testing of specimens, performing procedures and reporting results.

Required Qualifications:

Completion of an accredited Medical Laboratory Assistant program or equivalent.

Additional Required Qualifications:

Demonstrated experience (worked or student practicum) Phlebotomy, ECG urinalysis experience within the last 2 years. Completion of an accredited urinalysis course including theory and practical. Completion of an accredited ECG course including theory and practical.

Preferred Qualifications:

Recent experience using EPIC Beaker and Rover is strongly preferred. Experience within the last 2 years with data entry, specimen processing and handling is preferred. Experience using SPECTRE is beneficial.
