Your Opportunity:




The successful candidate will provide support to the laboratory by collecting and processing quality specimens for analysis using Connect Care. Under the direct supervision of a Medical Laboratory Assistant II, the primary responsibilities include collection of blood specimens from adults and children using macro and micro phlebotomy techniques, accessioning patient information into Connect Care, sorting and matching specimens to requisitions, reviewing orders in Connect Care, troubleshooting, registration, and reception duties. Candidate is required to rotate through the Inpatient Collection area and may have to assist other departments such as Specimen Control. Additional duties performed in those areas include but not limited to receiving, accessioning and distributing patient specimens to testing areas and referred out testing.

As a Medical Laboratory Assistant I, you will provide high quality service to clients of the clinical laboratory in an effective, efficient and safe manner. You will be responsible for a variety of laboratory functions including procurement, handling, processing, dispatching and testing of specimens, performing procedures and reporting results.

Required Qualifications:

Completion of an accredited Medical Laboratory Assistant program or equivalent.

Additional Required Qualifications:

Physical requirements for this position to lift, push or carry up to 20lbs. Standing and walking most of the shift. Current Basic Life Support certification is required. Recent phlebotomy experience is required. Successful demonstration of laboratory and data entry skills is required. Working within a team environment, good interpersonal skills, effective time management and the ability to set priorities are necessary. The successful candidate must be adaptable and flexible within an environment of change and interruptions. The candidate selected will have the ability to listen, comprehend and orally respond to or relay information, directions or questions in person, over the phone or in writing in an accurate, clear and concise manner. The successful candidate must represent Laboratory Medicine and Pathology in a respectful, professional and courteous manner.

Preferred Qualifications:

Recent phlebotomy experience within the last 6 months. Knowledge and training in EPIC-Beaker. Recent experience in using Rover within the last 6 months. Connect Care Rover training is preferred.
