Make a meaningful impact every day as a phlebotomist in the Inpatient Collections at the University of Alberta Hospital, where you'll be a key member of a collaborative healthcare team. Working closely with specialized units, physicians, and other providers, you'll perform high-quality blood collection services that support critical diagnostics and patient care. This role is primarily focused on adult collections, with future opportunities for specialized pediatric training to expand your scope and expertise. This is an active role that involves frequent walking, bending and wrist manipulation during phlebotomy procedures. In this role you will have the opportunity to work in a fast-paced, patient-centered setting where attention to detail, professionalism, and compassion are essential. Your strong attention to detail and time management skills will flourish as you receive and sort specimens into the lab and prepare them for transport as well as ensuring quality control and maintenance of lab equipment. With these responsibilities, you will be required to push and pull phlebotomy carts up to 10 lbs of dynamic force and lift up to 10 lbs of inventory. This role offers shifts that rotate through days, evenings and nights to support our 24/7 operations.
