Your Opportunity:




Working closely with other team members, your work will facilitate the testing performed in TLS by receiving samples, troubleshooting and confirming orders, inventory management, instrument and temperature checks, scheduling patient testing, and other duties as required. Utilizing effective verbal and written communication skills, you will demonstrate a high standard of customer service by assessing and meeting the needs of internal and external stakeholders. TLS is part of the Transfusion and Transplantation Medicine Program and the testing performed in TLS supports the Alberta Blood and Marrow Transplant Program, Give Life Alberta - Organ Donation South. The TLS team environment requires the ability to build positive working relationships and work effectively and collaboratively. Personal leadership is also required for following established policies and procedures, meeting deadlines, identifying problems, applying sound judgement, and showing initiative. Standard operating hours for the Transplant Lab South are Monday to Friday 0700-1615.

As a Medical Laboratory Assistant I, you will provide high quality service to clients of the clinical laboratory in an effective, efficient and safe manner. You will be responsible for a variety of laboratory functions including procurement, handling, processing, dispatching and testing of specimens, performing procedures and reporting results.

Required Qualifications:

Completion of an accredited Medical Laboratory Assistant program or equivalent.

Additional Required Qualifications:

As Required.

Preferred Qualifications:

HIL experience; including HistoTrac. Connect Care/Beaker experience including Packing Lists, Requisition Entry and Canceling and Modification of orders. Microsoft Office Suite programs. Ability to prioritize, troubleshoot, work independently, and self-motivated. Excellent communication skills.
