MacEwan University is seeking a Laboratory Assistant for a full-time continuing opportunity with the Faculty of Nursing.
The purpose of this position is to support lab learning and teaching through organization of lab supplies, equipment, and asset tracking. You will be responsible for preparing learning environments, assisting with the take down and cleaning of lab equipment, as well as organization of required lab supplies to maintain a safe work environment. Additionally, you will receive and monitor lab supplies and provide ongoing support for efficient lab operations.
Key responsibilities include:
Monitoring inventory and supply needs (including instructor kits); initiate ordering requests; and facilitate scheduled maintenance of equipment - e.g. tables, lifts, wheelchairs, human patient simulators;
Requesting calibration and repair of equipment, as required;
Assisting faculty in the set-up and take down of laboratory and simulation learning spaces where needed;
Managing files and recording storage as applicable;
Engaging in professional development to ensure up to date knowledge of supplies and equipment where needed;
Organizing, gathering and distributing equipment and supplies to support instructional activities;
Troubleshooting and solving problems associated with the functioning of a variety of equipment; and
Monitoring the schedule of learning activities for supply needs.
SKILLS
You will have:
A highly organized, analytical, and effective approach to assessment and planning;
The ability to communicate proficiently;
Strong problem-solving abilities;
Proficiency in the preparation of materials and equipment; and
Working knowledge of Microsoft Excel, Word and Google Workspace.
QUALIFICATIONS
A minimum of a High School Diploma.
Experience in health care.
Experience with or knowledge of medical supplies and equipment.
Experience with inventory control.
An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.
