Job Overview



The Labour Relations Specialist is a trusted partner within the Winning Talent & Culture team, responsible for supporting and advising on all aspects of labour and employee relations. This role will play a critical part in fostering a culture of respect, empowerment, and collaboration across the organization. With a strong understanding of collective agreements and employment legislation, the Labour Relations Specialist will provide expertise in negotiations, grievances, arbitrations, and union-management relations, while also contributing to proactive initiatives that strengthen workplace culture and employee engagement.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities



Act as the primary resource for labour relations matters, including interpreting and administering collective agreements. Support leaders in navigating performance management, grievances, workplace investigations, and disciplinary processes in a fair and consistent manner. Build and maintain strong, collaborative relationships with union representatives, employees, and leadership teams. Partner with Winning Talent & Culture leadership on collective bargaining preparations and negotiations. Provide guidance on employment legislation, human rights matters, and labour standards compliance. Collaborate with business leaders to create proactive employee engagement strategies that align with organizational goals. Track, analyze, and report on key labour relations metrics and trends to inform strategy. Deliver training and resources to leaders on best practices in managing in a unionized environment. Contribute to culture-shifting initiatives that empower employees, build trust, and enhance workplace collaboration. Perform other related duties and recruitment projects as required.

Education, Training & Experience



Post-secondary education in Human Resources, Labour Relations, Business, or related field. Minimum 2-5 years of experience in labour relations, employee relations, or human resources, preferably in a unionized environment. Strong knowledge of employment and labour legislation. Proven experience with grievance handling, workplace investigations, and collective bargaining. Excellent communication, negotiation, and conflict resolution skills. Ability to balance business strategy with people-centric solutions. Entrepreneurial mindset with the ability to adapt in a fast-paced, evolving environment. CHRP/CHRL designation (or working towards) considered an asset.
