Here's what you'll do:
Lab Technician II is an intermediate level position. Working under minimal supervision where operations and sequences are specified by written and verbal instructions and established practices, the Lab Technician II will perform routine and semi-routine production duties associated with the lens manufacturing processes, collect data in the form of KPI and support problem solving.
Lab Technician II is an intermediate level position. Working under minimal supervision this position is responsible for performing the tinting process of ophthalmic lenses according to technical specifications and quality standards, using appropriate equipment and chemical products. Works carefully and precisely to ensure uniform coloration and lens integrity.
Main Responsibilities:Prepare and operate lens tinting machines, adjusting temperature, time, and dye concentration;
Perform lens tinting according to production orders, recipe specifications, and lens material;
Monitor and replenish tinting solutions (dyes, neutralizers, fixatives), ensuring their effectiveness and safety;
Check the type of lens and ensure it is suitable for the tinting process;
Monitor the immersion time of lenses in chemical baths to ensure consistent coloration;
Visually inspect tinted lenses for defects or nonconformities (such as spots, color inconsistencies, or bubbles);
Follow standard operating procedures (SOPs) and safety regulations when handling chemical substances;
Record production data in appropriate systems or forms (quantity produced, defects, batch, dye used);
Perform basic cleaning of tinting equipment
Desired Qualifications:Previous experience in lens tinting or similar processes is a plus;
Basic knowledge of chemistry or chemical handling;
Attention to detail, organization, and commitment to quality.
Do you qualify?High School Diploma or equivalent
Minium 2-3 years of related experience. Previous experience in lens tinting or similar processes is a plus
Basic knowledge of chemistry or chemical handling
Attention to detail, organization, and commitment to quality.
Reliable, honest, dependable and be able to follow directions either written or verbal
A strong desire to learn is critical, including a positive attitude and approach to work.
Good verbal and written communication and an ability to read English and identify number recognition are also critical skill sets.
Basic analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to work in a fast paced, multi-task production environment essential.
Ability to troubleshoot and resolve basic issues, and escalate more challenging issues
May require vision and / or color hue recognition testing.
Customer Service mindset
Must be able to sit, stand, twist and bend for extended periods of time and able perform repetitive movements with upper and lower extremities. Must be able to regularly lift 10 pounds and be able to exert up to 20 PSI pressure with hands
Must have a flexible schedule and work overtime when required.
Must have the ability to work in a team setting or independently, as needed.
Requires ability to sustain lengthy periods of visual concentration and good hand/eye/foot coordination.
Ability to work in a fast-paced, multi-task production environment. Have the ability to focus for long periods of time
Have an eye for attention to detail and symmetry
Have solid dexterity and mechanical skills
Patience to fully see the task through is a must
Ability to communicate with other associates in a clear, concise manner
