Ciena is looking for a talented and customer-focused Lab Support Technician to be the first line of support for our local and remote customers. If you thrive in a dynamic environment, have a knack for troubleshooting, and are passionate about technology, we want you on our team.

How You Will Contribute:Provide support for lab user community issues, ranging from network infrastructure to test equipment troubleshooting. Reconfigure Ciena Optical systems based on detailed drawings and information provided. Investigate and resolve Ethernet connectivity, terminal server access, and computing issues. Install software and troubleshoot failed circuit packs within the lab environment. Maintain accurate records of all support requests and resolutions. Offer guidance to lab users on processes and best practices. Collaborate across functional teams to ensure seamless lab operations.


The Must Haves:2+ years of experience in an R&D customer support organization. Knowledge of R&D lab environments. College Diploma (Technician) or equivalent work experience. Familiarity with Ciena Optical Products and tools like JIRA and GEMS. Strong troubleshooting skills and attention to detail. Ability to work independently while being a team player. Customer-oriented mindset with excellent communication skills.


Nice to Have:Experience with signal source and test equipment troubleshooting. Background in software installation and circuit pack repair. Understanding of lab infrastructure processes. Proven ability to work across diverse functional teams effectively. Prior experience maintaining detailed support records.


Pay Range:

The salary range for this role in Ottawa is $63, 500 - $78, 100
Pay ranges at Ciena are designed to accommodate variations in knowledge, skills, experience, market conditions, and locations, reflecting our diverse products, industries, and lines of business. Please note that the pay range information provided in this posting pertains specifically to the primary location, which is the top location listed in case multiple locations are available.
Non-Sales employees may be eligible for a discretionary incentive bonus, while Sales employees may be eligible for a sales commission.
