Overview

Gwen Secter Creative Living Centre is seeking a passionate and skilled Kosher Chef to join our Kosher culinary team. The ideal candidate will play a vital role in supporting the Catering Coordinator in managing kitchen operations, ensuring high-quality food preparation, and maintaining a positive work environment. This position is perfect for someone who thrives in a fast-paced setting and is eager to contribute to the success of our organization.

Duties

Assist the Catering Coordinator in planning and directing food preparation and cooking activities. Ensure that all food is prepared according to established recipes and standards for quality and presentation. Maintain cleanliness and organization of the kitchen, adhering to food safety regulations. Monitor inventory levels of food supplies and assist with ordering as needed. Collaborate with Executive Director, Program Coordinator and Volunteer staff to ensure timely service and guest satisfaction. Help create menus, specials, and seasonal offerings.

Skills

Proficient in food preparation techniques with a strong understanding of culinary principles. Strong knowledge of Kosher food practices. Knowledge of Jewish customs is an asset. Demonstrated team management abilities, fostering a collaborative kitchen environment. Knowledge of food handling practices and safety regulations to maintain a safe working environment. Current food handling certificate required. Excellent communication skills to interact with both staff, clients and volunteers. Experience in hospitality settings and/ or catering settings. A commitment to maintaining high standards of food quality and presentation.
This position is a 6 month contract, with possibility for extension.

Job Types: Full-time, Fixed term contract
Contract length: 6 months

Pay: $20.00-$24.00 per hour
