We are seeking a compassionate and highly organized
Kitchen Worker
to join our paid staff and support our daily meal program. The ideal candidate will play a crucial role in ensuring the smooth , efficient and safe operation of our kitchen by assisting with meal preparation, food service, and maintaining a clean and organized work station.
Duties
Prepare and cook assigned components of the daily menu for large volumes, following standardized recipes and manager instructions.
Lead the preparation of all raw ingredients, including washing, chopping, marinating, and seasoning produce and meats.
Operate commercial kitchen equipment safely and efficiently (e.g., ovens, stovetops, steamers, large processors).
Direct and supervise kitchen volunteers in preparation tasks, ensuring a productive and positive experience rooted in our mission.
Support the serving volunteers and ensure timely delivery of food to clients.
Follow all food safety guidelines and regulations.
Assist with receiving, inspecting, and organizing deliveries. Ensure strict FIFO (First In, First Out) protocol is followed to maximize the use of perishable food donations and reduce waste.
Maintain the highest level of kitchen sanitation, including deep cleaning equipment, workstations, and storage areas, adhering rigorously to all Health and Safety Regulations.
Participate in inventory management by assisting with stock rotation and reporting low inventory levels.
Maintain a professional, respectful, and non-judgmental attitude toward all program guests and team members.
Skills
Proven experience in the food industry, preferably in a restaurant or similar commercial setting.
Knowledge of cooking techniques and meal preparation methods.
Familiarity with food handling practices and food safety regulations.
Strong organizational skills with the ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment.
Excellent teamwork skills with a positive attitude towards collaboration.
Ability to follow instructions accurately while maintaining attention to detail.
Must be able to stand for extended periods and safely lift, carry, and maneuver items up to
50 lbs

Pay: From $20.00 per hour
Expected hours: No more than 35 per week
