Position Summary:

We are seeking a dedicated and reliable Cook to join our team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for preparing nutritious and appealing meals for children, ensuring dietary requirements and allergies are carefully managed, and maintaining a clean and organized kitchen environment. This is a Part-time position, from Monday to Friday ,working under the supervision of Childcare Director.

Candidate possessing Alberta ECE Level 1 certification will be Preferred.

Key Responsibilities:

Plan, prepare, and serve nutritious meals and snacks in accordance with dietary guidelines and children's preferences. Maintain a clean, sanitary, and safe kitchen environment. Adhere to all health and safety regulations, including proper food handling, storage, and sanitation procedures. Work closely with childcare staff to ensure meals meet the nutritional needs of all children, including those with special dietary requirements or allergies. Manage inventory, create grocery purchase lists, and ensure all food items are stored properly. Develop and follow a menu that provides balanced and varied meals for children. Monitor and control food waste and manage kitchen budget effectively. Attend regular staff meetings and training sessions as required. Cover for ECE in the rooms Provide care to children when needed. Help Staff with outdoor activities.

Qualifications:

Level 1 Early childhood Education Certificate Alberta Food Safety certification is required. Experience as a cook, preferably in a childcare or similar setting will be an asset. Knowledge of child nutrition and special dietary needs. Excellent organizational and time management skills. Strong communication and interpersonal skills. Ability to work independently and as part of a team. Police Clearance Check with vulnerable sector search is required.

Salary and Benefits

Hourly Wages based on experience Benefits provided within the first six months of employment.
