In this role, you'll prep ingredients, support daily kitchen operations, maintain a smooth, well-organized back-of-house. You'll bring leadership skills, an eye for detail, and a commitment to quality and food safety and keep things running efficiently.
Responsibilities:
Uphold pars for ingredients & supplies, coordinate with team to adjust pars as needed
Food prep, ensuring adherence to recipes and portion sizes
Cooking/slicing meats, veg prep, and preparing sauces etc.
Maintain cleanliness and organization in the kitchen area and storage spaces
Complete cleaning checklists (ex. washing dishes, deep clean coolers, deliming dishwasher, clean ice machine, cleaning sanitizing equipment, sweeping, mopping etc.)
Safely operate equipment and maintain equipment (Robotcoupe, meat slicer etc.)
Monitor inventory and communicate with suppliers to place orders in a timely manner
Ensure compliance with AHS food safety and sanitation standards, including proper storage and handling of ingredients
Train staff on food prep techniques, safety procedures
Handle catering orders - prep, packing, communicating with mgmt about catering requirements
Sandwich/banh mi making, Till/POS operation and customer service when needed
Full understanding of allergies, dietary requirements and ability to limit cross contamination of common allergens
Ability to organize (FIFO) and limit food waste
Create systems to streamline food production, ordering etc.
Make production schedules based on sales and communication with management
Lead by example, demonstrating a strong work ethic, attention to detail
Qualifications:
Cooking, prep experience in a commercial kitchen/restaurant
Strong attention to detail and able to follow recipes accurately - we value consistency
Excellent communication skills - you care about the team and it shows
You're self-motivated, take initiative without needing to be asked - you move quickly and make the best use of your time
Ability to streamline processes and create systems
Able to lift 50lbs up and down a flight of stairs (we have a basement kitchen)
Knowledge of safe food handling practices and kitchen hygiene protocols
Food safety certified (or willing to obtain certification)
Catering experience is an asset. Knowledge of Vietnamese cooking is an asset.
NOTE: we have a team tip pool that is equally shared (works out to an extra $2-4/hour)
