We are currently looking for a

Kitchen staff with Early Learning Child-Care (ELCC) Educators - Level 1

to join our team. Reporting to the Program Supervisor, the kitchen staff plays a critical role in ensuring the safe handling, and service of food. They are responsible for adhering to all food safety and sanitation protocols as outlined in QFCC's Food Safety Plan to ensure that meals provided to the children are safe for consumption. The Kitchen staff may also be asked to join ratio as an on-call educator.

Key responsibilities include but are not limited to:



Always follow the QFCC Food Safety Plan during food handling and service. Implement and adhere to the cleaning and sanitation schedule (daily, weekly, and monthly tasks). Conduct and log daily temperature checks for refrigeration and freezer. Practice proper handwashing and use of personal protective equipment (e.g., gloves, hairnets). Avoid cross-contamination by using separate equipment and surfaces for different food types. Properly receive, inspect, and store food items received from the central kitchen based on the FIFO (First In, First Out) method. Ensure food is reheated and held at the correct temperatures according to standards outlined in the QFCC food safety plan. Label and date all food items stored in the fridge or freezer. Monitor expiration dates for shelf stable foods regularly. Ensure all food waste and spoilage is identified and disposed of correctly. Maintain accurate and timely food safety records, including temperature logs, cleaning checklists, and receiving logs. Report any food safety incidents, hazards, or violations immediately to the Program Supervisor. Participate in regular food safety training and audits as required. Work collaboratively with other staff and volunteers in a respectful and efficient manner. Attend regular staff meetings.

Other responsibilities



With the understanding that an On-Call Educator may not have the full knowledge of the children in the group, or current activities at Child Care Program, the position will implement the curriculum as set out by the primary educators for the group.

Be flexible with availability and assigned group to cover staff absences. Ensure on-going supervision that ensures the children's safety and well-being at all times. Create a positive and nurturing environment that meets the children's social, emotional and physical development. Implement program of activities for assigned group. Carry out personal care routines to meet the needs of each child and use these opportunities to be positive experiences for the children. Build positive, respectful, supportive relationships with families and team members. Maintain full compliance with of the AB Early Learning and Child Care Act and Regulation. Be an active, engaged participate of the Child Care team of childcare professionals. Implement all relevant policies and procedures of Child Care Program. Communicate effectively all relevant information regarding children, families, the program and health and safety to staff team and Program Supervisor. Communicate with families about their child's day and share relevant information with parents. Report any concerns about children to the Program Supervisor. Ensure all necessary forms are completed accurately in a timely fashion (i.e. time sheets, accident and incident reports, staff & child attendance records, etc.). Assist with and attend family functions that involve the daycare (i.e. Enrollment, parent meetings, holidays)

What you bring to the role?



Post Secondary Education in Early Learning and Childcare Diploma; 2-year post-degree; Alberta Teaching Certificate; Child and Youth Care Diploma; Social Work Diploma; or a combination of relevant education and experience is required Previous experience in food service or kitchen work is preferred. Food Handler's Certificate from a provider recognized in Alberta. An advanced food safety certificate is an asset. Valid First Aid Certification and Level 1 ECE Alberta Childcare Staff Certification. Proven knowledge of food safety regulations and best practices. Strong attention to detail and commitment to cleanliness. Ability to stand for extended periods and lift up to 23 kgs. A valid police information check with vulnerable sector. For the purposes of this application, a valid PIC-VS is one dated no more than 3 months before an applicant submits their application for this position.

All successful candidates will be required to obtain a child intervention record check

Pay: $17.23-$19.97 per hour
