Eligibility In order to teach in Alberta, teachers must be certified through Alberta Education. A successful candidate would also have experience in following the Teaching Quality Standard (TQS) and infusing literacy and STEM across the curriculum.
Position Description 1.0 FTE: Kindergarten (this is a half day program) and Music (grade 1-6) teacher in inclusive classroom environments. Qualifications Education and Experience
Valid Alberta Teaching Certificate
Bachelor of Education Degree or equivalent recognized by Alberta Education
Knowledge of principles and methods for curriculum and lesson design, teaching and instruction for individuals and groups, and the measurement of student learning (ie. PowerTeacherPro, PowerSchool)
Knowledge of human behaviour and performance; individual differences in ability, personality, and interests; learning and motivation (please note that experience with the creation, implementation and review of Individualized Program Plans is an asset)
Knowledge and awareness of group behaviour and dynamics, societal trends and influences, human migrations, ethnicity, and cultures
Passion for teaching music (looking to incorporate ukuleles into our music program) and engaging students is an asset
Vulnerable Sector Police Information Check : Applicants new to the Thrive Elementary School who are offered employment must complete and pass a vulnerable sector police information check before employment can be confirmed, unless you have had one completed within 6 months.
