Position Overview
We are seeking a
Kindergarten Homeroom Teacher
who is passionate about early childhood education, inquiry-based learning, and fostering joyful discovery. The ideal candidate will create a nurturing, engaging classroom where young learners feel valued, curious, and inspired to explore the world around them.
Key Responsibilities
Design and implement
developmentally appropriate, inquiry- and play-based learning experiences
that promote curiosity, creativity, and foundational skills across all subject areas.
Foster children's
social-emotional growth
through intentional routines, collaborative play, and the explicit teaching of self-regulation and empathy.
Use
assessment for, as, and of learning
to observe progress, guide instruction, and celebrate student growth, in alignment with Growing Success (2010)and the
IB PYP philosophy
.
Create a
warm, inclusive, and differentiated environment
that meets the needs of diverse learners and celebrates each child's strengths and interests.
Integrate
language, math, art, music, movement, and nature-based learning
into meaningful, authentic experiences.
Collaborate with colleagues and families to support student well-being and continuous learning at school and home.
Participate actively in
IB PYP professional learning
and contribute to the collaborative planning of transdisciplinary Units of Inquiry.
Qualifications
Member of the Ontario College of Teachers (OCT), Primary Division, or College of Early Childhood Educators (RECE) equivalent recognized certification.
Demonstrated understanding of
inquiry- and play-based pedagogy
; IB PYP experience or training is an asset.
Strong communication, organization, and collaboration skills.
A nurturing, reflective, and creative educator who values holistic child development.
