We would love to introduce our LWL Education Centre (https://www.lwleducation.com). LWL is a language and arts focused education center with classes running in Kerrisdale, Richmond, and online. We primarily work with students 3-13 years old and we are passionate about students reaching their full potential through engaging lessons and holistic learning.

We are looking to hire

experienced

English and French speaking substitute teachers to join our team in person. Teachers are paid $30-$50/hr depending on class size to lead 75 minute classes + prep time and student progress notes. The curriculum, teaching materials, and supplies are provided. Priority goes to candidates who are flexible and have at least 2 days of availability per week (with a weekend day preferred).

Our classes usually run Monday to Fridays 3pm-8pm and Saturdays and Sundays from 9am-2pm. Teachers will be notified of the classes and times they are required to be at the office.

Job description

Our in person 75-90 minute classes have no more than 4 students at a time, and we offer programs such as:

-Storytelling & Crafts

-Novel Study & Creative Writing

-Confident Communication & Public Speaking

-Phonics & Spelling

-Early French

We also offer condensed versions of these classes online via zoom.

QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED:

Excellent spoken and written English (and/or French) Must be able to work at least one day a week At least a year of teaching completed in Canada (primary or early childhood is an asset). Ability to present lessons in an engaging and confident manner. Ability to demonstrate compassion towards young children with varying levels of language proficiency. Ability to take initiative and exercise resourcefulness. Excellent interpersonal and communicative skills to interact with students and staff. Proven ability to work in a team environment and manage multiple deadlines. Proven ability to use an inclusive approach to develop and cultivate relationships with students. Demonstrated ability to maintain confidentiality of records and client information. Demonstrated ability to independently exercise appropriate judgment and to make important decisions on matters of varying complexity. Professional demeanor with the demonstrated ability to strategically manage challenges and difficulties.
WORKING CONDITIONS:

Ability to work at least one day a week Ability to work at both or either our Richmond and Kerrisdale locations. Dress code of business casual.
