As the premier live music presenter in the BC Interior, the KSO actively serves the community at cultural events throughout the region.The KSO Music School opened in 2002, offering private lessons, group classes, ensemble rehearsals, and performance opportunities for all skill levels and ages. We support students who engage with music to pursue their own personal, academic, and career goals.Job Summary:The Kamloops Symphony Society's current strategic plan prioritizes the development of revenue through earned and contributed channels. To help meet this priority, the Director, Fund Development will be responsible for creating, implementing, and overseeing the fund development strategies for the Kamloops Symphony Orchestra and the KSO Music School. This role requires a dynamic individual who can enhance the visibility of the organization, increase revenue generation and donor engagement, and help secure the necessary funding to support our artistic and educational programs. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in fund development with the ability to execute strategies that drive results.Key Responsibilities:Fund DevelopmentFundraising Strategy and Implementation:

• Create, execute and manage long- and short-term strategies for fundraising with the Executive Director and Board of Directors, including annual giving, major gifts, planned giving, and capital campaigns.
• Understand and clearly articulate the KSO & KSO Music School programs, history, culture, values, strategic plan, season, and financial strategy to foster the continuing relevance of sponsorship, philanthropic and grant support.
• With the Executive Director, identify, cultivate, and solicit major donors, corporate sponsors, and foundation grants.
• Plan and implement an annual giving plan with budget to include direct mail, online giving, and special events.
• Responsible for legacy giving and planned gifts.

Donor Relations and Stewardship:

• Build and maintain strong relationships with current and potential donors.
• Establish and implement donor recognition plan and programs to ensure timely acknowledgment of contributions.
• Oversee donor database management, ensuring accurate and up-to-date records.
• Grant Writing and Reporting:
• Research and identify grant opportunities aligned with the organization's mission and goals.
• Assist the Executive Director in writing and submitting compelling grant proposals and reports to foundations, government agencies, and other funding bodies.

Event Planning and Execution:

• Plan and work with the Operations Coordinator, Office Administrator, and volunteers as required to coordinate fundraising events, including galas, book sales, auctions, and donor receptions.
• Collaborate with staff and volunteers to ensure successful event execution and donor engagement.

Content Creation and Management:

• Produce compelling content for various fund development channels, including newsletters and emails.
• Coordinate the design and production of print and digital development collateral.
• Maintain an updated and engaging website, ensuring timely updates and accurate information.

Market Research and Analysis:

• Conduct market research to identify trends, donor preferences, and new opportunities.
• Analyze development campaign performance and adjust strategies to maximize effectiveness.
• Monitor and report on key performance indicators (KPIs) to evaluate the success of development initiatives.

Budget & Data Management

• Prepare and monitor revenue and expense budgets.
• Provide accurate reporting, analysis, and integration of data; and oversee the maintenance and integrity of patron, donor, and prospect records.
• Prepare financial and statistical analysis of development initiatives and use this information to improve fund development activities.
• Project anticipated revenue and expenses for programs under purview and review progress quarterly with the Executive Director.

Ideal Qualifications:Education and Experience:

• Bachelor's Degree or equivalent in Fund Development, Communications, Arts Management, or a related field.
• CFRE designation is preferred.
• Minimum of 5 years of experience in fund development, preferably in the arts sector.
• Equivalent combination of education, training, and experience may be considered.

Skills and Abilities:

• Strong strategic planning and project management skills.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Proficiency in digital marketing tools and platforms, including social media and email marketing.
• Experience with DonorPerfect or other donor management software and CRM systems.
• Demonstrated success in fundraising, including major and planned gifts, annual giving, and grant writing.
• Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to work effectively with donors, volunteers, Board members, and other key stakeholder groups.

Benefits

• The base salary range for this position is $70,000 - $80,000.
• This position is eligible for a hybrid work arrangement. The successful candidate will be required to work in-office at least 2 days per week, with the remainder eligible for remote work
