Position Overview
We are seeking a passionate Maker Program Engineer/Curriculum Designer with strong technical expertise in electronics, mechanical systems, and educational design. This role involves developing and refining our comprehensive 5-level maker program curriculum, creating project specifications, and ensuring seamless progression from basic TinkerCAD projects to professional PCB design and product development.
Responsibilities
Design and develop comprehensive curriculum for Levels 1-5 maker programs (Grades 1-10).
Create detailed project specifications, learning objectives, and assessment criteria for each level.
Develop crash course curricula including M5Stack/TinkerCAD Fundamentals, Onshape CAD, AICoding, and ESP32 Advanced Programming.
Engineer project prototypes and test implementations across all skill levels.
Create technical documentation, instructor guides, and student materials.
Collaborate with coaches to ensure curriculum deliverability and effectiveness.
Continuously iterate and improve curriculum based on student outcomes and feedback.
Design progression pathways that prepare students for real-world product development.
Requirements
Bachelor's degree (or higher) in Engineering, Computer Science, or related technical fieldpreferred.
Proven experience in curriculum design and educational program development.
Proficiency in:
CAD software (TinkerCAD, Onshape)
Microcontroller programming (Micro:bit, M5Stack, ESP32)
Electronics design and PCB layout
3D printing and manufacturing processes
Python programming and AI/ML basics
Nice to Have
Experience in FRC or related advanced STEM projects.
Knowledge of:
Soldering and electronics assembly
Robotics and control systems
Product development lifecycle
Wireless communication protocols
Prior experience teaching or mentoring in technical subjects.
Understanding of age-appropriate skill progression in STEM education.
Engineering & Design Skills
Strong technical problem-solving and prototyping abilities.
Experience with mechanical systems, servo control, and sensor integration.
Ability to design projects that scale from simple to professional complexity.
Understanding of manufacturing constraints and design for production.
Excellent documentation and technical writing skills.
Contract & Schedule
Part-time, minimum 3 months, with the potential for full-time promotion.

Submit a
shared online folder

2-3 examples
of projects you have built or designed. These may include:
Electronics or microcontroller projects (Arduino, ESP32, micro:bit, etc.)
Fabrication projects (3D printing, laser cutting, woodworking, etc.)
Interactive STEM builds or classroom maker activities.
For each project, include a
short description
(1-2 sentences) explaining what it is, what tools or platforms were used, and your role in creating it.
Clear photos, schematics, short videos, or build notes are encouraged.
Applications without work samples will not be reviewed.
2. Short Technical Design Task - Reactive Button Game
This task is intended to evaluate your ability to
think through interactive design
