British Columbia Conservation Foundation and Origins Environmental
are seeking 2 Restoration Technicians to support on-the-ground implementation of riparian and wetland habitat restoration projects across southern Vancouver Island (Mill Bay to Qualicum Area). This position offers an excellent opportunity for individuals passionate about environmental stewardship and interested in gaining practical, hands-on experience in ecological restoration. Previous experience is an asset but not required, as training will be provided. More importantly, we are looking for reliable, motivated, and enthusiastic team members who are eager to learn, contribute, and work effectively outdoors in all weather conditions. The technician(s) will report to the Technical Lead and Elodie Roger, Origins Environmental Founder & Restoration Biologist.

Responsibilities
Assist with on-the-ground restoration activities, including native species planting, invasive species removal, mulching, erosion control, and basic bioengineering techniques.
Carry out manual labour tasks such as digging, carrying plants and materials, and installing fencing or protective structures, collecting supplies and equipment.
Follow directions from the Team Lead, Project Manager and Coordinator to complete assigned tasks safely and efficiently.
Maintain a positive, reliable, and team-oriented attitude in the field.
Adhere to all health and safety protocols, including proper use of tools and personal protective equipment (PPE).
Support site monitoring efforts by assisting with photo documentation, plant counts, and general site observations.
Help with equipment care, tool organization, and site cleanup to ensure efficient field operations.
Work outdoors in all weather conditions and adapt to variable terrain and site conditions.
Represent the program respectfully when interacting with landowners, partners, and community members.
Take initiative in learning new restoration techniques and building field skills under the guidance of the Team Lead and Program Coordinator.

Qualifications
Must be legally entitled to work in Canada for the specified period.
Valid Class 5 driver's license and access to a reliable vehicle (mileage reimbursed when used for work).
Current OFA Level 1 First Aid (or willingness to obtain before start date) is considered an asset.

Skills
Physically fit and comfortable working outdoors in variable weather conditions (rain, heat, cold) and on uneven terrain.
Interest in riparian, wetland, and upland habitat restoration, environmental stewardship, or natural resource management.
Ability to follow directions, work safely, and complete tasks efficiently under supervision.
Strong teamwork skills with the ability to also work independently when required.
Reliable, self-motivated, and enthusiastic, with a positive attitude in the field.
Willingness to perform manual labour, including planting, invasive species removal, erosion control, and bioengineering techniques.
Good communication skills for effective coordination with crew leads, partners, and landowners.

Assets
* Previous experience in ecological restoration, fieldwork, forestry, horticulture, or related fields is an asset but not required--training will be provided.
