The Enterprise Applications and Solutions Integration (EASI) department within the Chief Information Officer's (CIO) Division is a central department responsible for all matters pertaining to the development, maintenance and effectiveness of the core administrative management and student systems at the U of T. Included within these responsibilities are all central SAP systems, such as Financial Services, Human Resources, Research Administration and Procurement; the central U of T Student System (ROSI); approximately 40 related vendor and specialized web applications, and Document Management applications.
Your opportunity:
Reporting to the Manager, User Experience & Process Design, you will be part of a dynamic, collaborative and innovative team focused on delivering transformational technology solutions to the University.
In this role, you will be responsible for supporting and providing assistance to the User Experience & Process Design team in designing the user experience and business processes for the University's digital systems, improving how these platforms support operations and serve the University community. Working closely with senior designers, you will engage in user research and collaborate with business units to identify current and future requirements by assisting in gathering relevant information. You will help translate these insights into user-centered design solutions by drafting process maps, technical specifications, and other supporting documentation using established user experience methods.
Your responsibilities will include:
Applying established UX standards and guidelines to support design activities across projects.
Providing detailed explanations of UX guidelines, processes, and expectations to stakeholders.
Creating and updating documentation, processes, and guidelines
Supporting the creation and refinement of design specification documents.
Recording and documenting the results of user experience testing.
Essential Qualifications:
Bachelor's Degree or acceptable combination of equivalent experience.
Minimum one year of recent and related experience in the design of interactive web applications
Working knowledge of student systems and higher education requirements.
Strong experience with current design practices (e.g. wireframing, prototyping, user story creation, accessibility, responsiveness) and tools (e.g. Figma, InVision, Axure, Balsamiq)
Familiarity with and understanding of user centered design methodologies
Familiarity with current business process mapping practices and software, (e.g. Visio, Lucidchart)
Demonstrate success in coordinating user research activities, coordinating usability testing sessions, documenting heuristic evaluations of web sites and applications
Excellentwritten and oral communication skills
Excellent teamwork skills
Ability to work independently
